Cabinet Displays - Tall Cabinet

 The tall cabinets display items relating to Brackley's past.

Local people have very kindly lent us items to display.

They relate to 

* Bronnley (yes we have the infamous lemon soap)

* Trueform and shoe making (Dewetts was a shoe maker in Brackley located where the Wellbeing Centre is now)

* Brewing (Brackley had three brewers) 

* General store items including an image of a mynah bird in a cage! Pop in to find out more about that one as there is information on our powerpoint.

OFFICIAL LAUNCH

Brackley Cmmunity Museum was officially opened by Caryl Billingham MBE on the morning of Friday 15th September 2023. Thank you so much to Caryl for giving us her time and allowing us to display her father's World War II medals.   The first display shows a snapshots of  Brackley's history from neolithic to World War II.    The map above the cabinets is an old map of Brackley and the coloured zones relate to the periods of time and where the finds were located around the town Orange - Neolithic Blue - Iron Age Green - Roman Yellow - Medieval

Other display items

 To create extra interest we also included some displays of wonderful photographs that are archived at the library. The photographs near the display cabinet will be a semi permanent part of our exhibition. We are now in the process of collating, adding extra images, cataloguing and creating a digital store of all the photographs we can find of Brackley's rich past. If you have any images you would like to share, please do get in touch. Email info@brackleymuseum.uk  For the launch weekend we also included some historical maps of Brackley which are part of the library's collection.

Cabinet Displays - low cabinet

 The lower cabinet in our display, goes from neolithic to the middle ages. The artifacts are from Northamptonshire ARC and Mr J. Possinger who is a local detectorist who we are so grateful to. The lower half of the cabinet has a model representation of the motte and bailey castle that was at the Tesco's end of town. This was kindly created by Mr K. Castle.
